Cleaning Tips to Make Life Easier and Great Smelling

I blog a lot about decluttering and organizing, but not much about actual cleaning.  To be honest, it’s not my strongest suit, but I’m getting there with a little help.  Decluttering, organizing, and cleaning are all very intricately linked topics.  In order to do a proper job on the cleaning, you need to have the clutter out of your way.  Otherwise, the cleaning operation will take twice as much time.  And also the cleaning is kind of useless without the decluttering and organizing steps.  Shiny and scrubbed clutter still looks pretty messy!

Seriously though, I hope you know that I can relate.  I’ve struggled with organization and household issues my entire life, but when I look at the progress I’ve made over a 25-year period (about the time I started with Flylady!) I am amazed at how far I’ve come.

My house is never going to be perfect, but I can always have it company-ready within 15 minutes flat and that simply wouldn’t have been possible back then!

So, I’m here to tell you that it’s possible.  It’s even VERY likely, if you want it bad enough and are willing to stick with your organizing strategies for a long enough period of time.

But it’s such a wonderful feeling when you can actually get in there and sparkle things up.

Here is something I’ve discovered to help me keep my house clean and smelling WONDERFUL.

Grove.Co (not .com) is a new program I’ve joined because they feature all types of natural products.  Now, I’m not a “crunchy mama” particularly.  So I’m coming a little late to the game on essential oils and all-natural products, which I know are EXTREMELY popular these days.

But you have to think – the standards are so lax on traditional products, you just don’t know what the heck you are spraying around the house.  They could be bad for you, your babies and even your pets.  So, if you can get the same things done with products that DON’T contain all those potentially toxic chemicals, that’s gotta be a better situation, right?

And I’m loving working with Grove.  Their customer service is very friendly and helpful, their products are fabulous, and their prices are MUCH less than I would’ve expected.

The picture above was my initial delivery.  (Pardon the amateur photography).  I got everything shown in that picture – including the CUTE BUCKET for $23.92.  Seriously!  I got Mrs. Meyers body wash, air freshener, multi-surface cleaner, dish soap, and hand soap.  Plus I got Method toilet bowl cleaner (forgot to put it in the photo), plus the Grove concentrate triple cleaner pack with the pretty glass spray bottle,

AND did I mention the cute bucket?  Since I got their VIP monthly membership, I get FREE year-round shipping and freebie products several times per year.

Chemical-free, all natural products, that smell HEAVENLY – I’m debating if Lemon Verbena is my favorite or Honeysuckle….  AND it’s a great bargain – yes Ma’am!

It’s not just cleaning products either.

In case you are thinking it’s all just cleaning stuff or all Mrs. Meyer’s stuff, they have a HUGE variety of items and brands to choose from. Here is my second shipment from them.

You can see, I’ve got an all-natural charcoal facemask from “Say Yes to Tomatoes”, some all-natural deodorant (the third one I’ve tried – seems to be working, well it’s harder to tell in February), I’ve got some nice cleaning gloves, free hand sanitizer, some ahem, dandruff shampoo with tea tree oil, a yummy smelling floor cleaner, and some olive oil and rosemary soap (that I particularly LOVE), wild orange/bergamot lotion – yummy!  And this shipment – $25.64 (I did have a small credit that covered part of the cost, plus free VIP shipping, but still great deal!).

They even have feminine products, diapers and baby products, eco-friendly sandwich wrap options, lots of stuff.  I’ll have no problem filling up my monthly shipment.  And you’re not required to take the monthly shipment, either.  You can skip it, change it around, whatever floats your boat!

PS:  Turns out, I didn’t care for the floor cleaner.  It smelled heavenly, but left my floors with a dull film and had visible footprints everywhere I’d stepped.  I dropped them a quick Email about it – bing!  Instant refund, no questions asked.  And I didn’t even need to return it.  I might use it as a room scent with those reed thingies, but definitely not as a floor cleaner.  That is outstanding customer service!

How ’bout $10 off your first purchase?  They’ll even give me $10 too, just ‘cuz they’re nice that way!  Just use this sweet little code and the nice folks at Grove will help you out.

I’ll be back soon with some more tips and resources for you.
