Sneaky Tricks to Improve Facebook

I know I’ve been AWOL for a couple of weeks.  I know we call it Adrian’s Crazy Life, but seriously, you have NO IDEA how crazy my life has been over the last month.  First, my office sent me to California for four days to do some training with a new employee – and make a quick pitstop to visit my oldest son and four grandkids.  Then the following weekend, I was at the Build Your Blog Conference.  Which was Ahhh-mazing, and I learned SO much.  I have so much great stuff to share with you, but I just don’t have the time right now to put all my notes into a useful format.  I will soon, I promise.

Since the conference, I’ve been taking an intensive on-line blogging course.  It’s really a game-changer both personally and professionally.  Soon you’ll start seeing tons of great changes going on with my site, but the course is VERY fast-paced with all sorts of homework, challenges and webinars, so I haven’t had time for anything else besides work, and sleep.  Well, and a couple of Scout campouts, a Scoutmaster retirement party for 200 people, a bunch of meetings and other work with my other charity – the Ulster Project, plus a new sideline where I’ve been doing tons of Pinterest work for some small businesses, and creating a Pinterest E-book, soon to be available.  Yes, crazy, I know, but you can’t say I’m not productive!

So basically, this is just a quick fly-by to let you know I haven’t forgotten about you, and that I will be back to some kind of a normal schedule again sometime soon.

In the meantime, I’ve found some really cool Facebook tips that I thought I’d share with you because they are making my life soooo much easier.

FacebookTipsCanva

*New and very cool graphic I made in Canva.  Seriously, how did you people NOT tell me about Canva?  Yes, they charge $1 for some of their designs, but it is light years ahead of PicMonkey.  I love that it saves all my graphics so I can copy and re-use them.

**See I’ve learned Pagination – complete with spiffy new buttons.  Ahhhhh, shiny!

  1. Those are great tips. This past week I discovered another annoying thing in FB. I post links on the pages I manage, and as soon as I paste in the link, my FB account freezes and I have to close it. Sometimes I can share if I post the link on my own timeline, but I don’t always want to do that. Has that happened to you?

    • That’s interesting. Mine doesn’t do that, but it posts weird links for my posts sometimes. Usually, it pulls photos from some of my page ads, which is pretty annoying. I’ve got a good tech person if you can’t resolve it.

  2. Great tips!! I’m going to check social fixer out-FB has annoyed me for ages with their way of showing me what THEY think I want to see.

  3. Great post, Adrian! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Side note: I really love Canva, too! So great for making Pinterest-friendly graphics! And thank you so much for the great Facebook tips, Adrian! Facebook is such a powerful tool, and it’s always so helpful to hear what works for everyone else so we can try new tactics to increase engagement and how many people see our posts!

  5. SITSBlogging brought me here 🙂 Well, welcome back from your hiatus, and YES…Canva is EVERYTHING!! Love it!

  6. These are great tips! I can’t wait to put them into practice. I had no idea you can mute those game requests. I have been avoiding liking friends posts because I did not want to be apart of the 150 comment notification about it too! Yay!

  7. Great tips, Adrian! I’ve definitely used these controls to remove a few crazy friends and uncles from my Facebook news feed. And so glad you found Canva–it is an AMAZING resource! I use it all the time for blog graphics, webinar graphics, and even Facebook ads.

  8. but I like cat pictures (says the cat blogger)

  9. Awesome tips, love the turn off post feature you will set me free!

  10. Thanks for the tips, Adrian. I appreciate it! 🙂

  11. Thanks for these tips. I knew about the first two but I have never heard of Social Fixer. Going to check that out now. Stopping by from SITS. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips. Numbers 3 and 4 are things I’ve never heard of but will start doing now. Visiting from Saturday Sharefest.

    • That’s just what I LOVE to hear. I love it when my tips help people and Facebook is SO annoying, I’m glad to help get it under control.

  13. I haven’t heard of social fixer, I’ll have to check that out. Well I am curious about that awesome course you’re taking. I’ve thought about it, but with working full time and baby, I barely have time to blog, let alone learn about blogging haha. I’ll be watching the changes you make 🙂

    • I hear ya. I’m a bit busy myself, but I’ll be happy for the extra income I’ll be earning once I figure out all this NEW stuff. It’s sooooo much. And yes, check out Social Fixer, it’s wonderful.
